Volumetrics Diet Less Food Less Weight
Volumetrics Diet Less Food Less Weight
The volumetrics diet is a revolutionary eating program designed by Barbara Rolls PhD and has been effective with weight loss of many people for the past seasons. The whole idea behind the diet is to ensure people are satiated and full for a longer duration while allowing them to eat as much as they wish which is a rather common predicament in most diet plans.
It has been shown that most people will eat and drink around 3 pounds of food every day. With this diet, for the daily 3 pounds intake of food that you are already consuming, you will learn how to derive more nutritional value and lower calories by simply choosing different foods. And the end result is what? You eat more food, you feel good, you lose weight. It is unthinkable but actually it is just basic and rational.
You will necessarily get fat if you decide to eat cookies instead of fruits and vegetables. If you eat three pounds of fruits and vegetables you will still feel full. But instead of gorging yourself on calorie empty food, now you are gorging yourself on nutritious food while consuming fewer calories, you will definitely lose weight.
This food strategy does not classify food into different categories or restrict some food categories. All it does, is show them how to consume low energy dense ruptures. That is foods that are relatively less in calories with respect to the quantity you can eat. High energy presence foods are foods that are very low in volume but pack lots of calories like a chocolate bar.
Finally, there is one more important balance to mention. When choosing low energy dense foods, you eat a lot of those foods and do not take a lot of calories in.
For instance, one could achieve the same calorific value by eating, say, pies, cookies, or ice cream (high energy dense) instead of fruits and vegetables (low energy density), but that’s not necessary as the latter types make it possible to consume much more foods without this effort.
One of the cornerstones of this diet plan is that you eat foods that have a high water content such as fruits and vegetables, many of which are up to 95% water based. This will allow you to eat a lot more food without taking in a lot of more calories...more bang for your food buck!
Another aspect of this diet is to eat a lot of lean protein such as in lean meat and fish. And remember when I said this diet wasn’t about deprivation? Well, you can still eat cookies, candy, ice cream but now that you are more clear about the concept of energy dense foods – you will automatically eat these price foods less often and in lesser quantity making your calorific intake less.
The volumetrics diet has been practiced for centuries and has all the qualities of a weight loss program that is practical for life.
The best part is that once they reached their target weight they stood a better chance of maintaining it since they were changing their eating patterns for the better. It is this transformation of lifestyle that matters the most when it comes to sustaining the lost weight permanently.
